Gardening is one of those delightful tasks in which we never arrive. God has created so much beauty and creation truly proclaims His greatness.

I have made it one of my goals to create gardens that have interest for every season of the year. I have a far way to go, but each year the garden is growing in its seasonal interest.

Today I’m sharing 10 plants that flower in my spring time garden. I am in Zone 6b

10 Plants that Flower in the Spring

  1. Allium

I don’t know why but these plants remind me of something you’d see in a Dr. Seuss book. They sway gracefully in the spring breeze and add so much interest to the May garden.

Each year I am taken aback by this flowering tree. It is absolutely covered with pink blossoms and the waxy, heart shaped leaves add a unique interest into the landscape as well.

7. Dutch Masters Daffodil
Daffodils are some of the easiest bulbs to grow. The vibrant yellow is a welcome sight after the long winter days.

9. Snowball Bush Viburnum
If you’re looking for a plant that gives both spring, summer and autumn interest- this is it. In the spring there are beautiful snowball like clusters that cover the entire tree en masse.

10. Siberian Squill
My goal is to have these little guys seed all over my property. This is the first flower to bloom and provide food for the honey bees.

11. Snow in Summer Cerastium tomentosum

This is a great ground covering plant with silvery blue foliage. When the flowers begin in the spring it is simply stunning.
